The SNOW QUEEN Ice Show now on YLE Areena! 

The Snow Queen Ice Show, performed at Tampere's Nokia Arena around the New Year, is now available to watch on YLE Areena! It has also been broadcast on Arte too and it will soon be possible to watch it as part of Arte Concerts on arte.tv. To enjoy some masterful skating, Mikki Kunttu's amazing lights, Erika Turunen's wonderful costumes, Reija Wäre's and Melanie Thompson's delightful direction, choreography and storytelling, and of course music by yours truly, Areena has it all!

The SNOW QUEEN Ice Show won big at the annual Sports Gala! 

The Snow Queen ice ballet, which was performed at Tampere’s Nokia Arena at the turn of the year, has won the Sports Culture Act of the Year Award at the Finnish Sports Gala on January 12, 2023. The award was given in recognition of the extensive work the production has done for the benefit of Finnish sports culture. THE KNOCKING goes Sitges Fantastic Film Festival! 

And it was fantastic! Great audience of genre lovers flocked in to fill a huge cinema with over a thousand seats. My directors Joonas Pajunen and Max Seeck introduced the film and did a Q&A afterwards. The film will be out in cinemas February 2023 in Finland. Produced by Solar Films, starring Saana Koivisto, Inka Kallén and Pekka Strang.

THE MUSHROOM TRIP at the Hyvinkää Red Carpet Festival! 

Red Carpet's film gala is always fun, and this year the festival hosted a sneak preview of THE MUSHROOM TRIP, JP Siili's upcoming 'boomer comedy'. Producer Severi Koivusalo and Anu Sinisalo and Jaana Saarinen, represented the stellar cast!

Happy New Year 2022 to all! While the SNOW QUEEN Ice Show has been postponed due to covid, the new year looks promising! Work on at least 4-5 films and a couple of series, plus performances of both my SNOW QUEEN Ballet and Ice Show (totally different music, funnily enough)! THE SNOW QUEEN Ice Show to premiere Jan 1st 2022 in Tampere 

Our SNOW QUEEN Ice Show - based on Hans Christian Andersen's timeless fairytale - will premiere on the first day of the new year 2022 at the brand-new Tampere Deck Arena. UPDATE! Unfortunately, due to the covid pandemic, the performances have been rescheduled to December 30th and 31st 2022 and January 1st and 2nd of 2023.

New Year, New Decade 

Happy New Year to everyone! Not that new really, since we are in mid-February - unless you're in China - but newish nevertheless... Greetings from Moscow where I am recording a new score for my producer and director friends, the unbeatable Melnik father and son duo! 

In other news, I have recetly signed with Decca and look forward to a great collaboration with my new 'family' - will keep you posted on what's going on every now and then!

Winter greetings 

January has been nice and busy - have recorded a lot with the orchestra and also with amazing soloists. Also working on some Nordic Themes for fun, fit for an epic viking movie that I still have to hear of! Now off to Gothenburg for the launch of the 'Creative Input' project and catalogue (which I am part of), and mid-February is Berlinale - so the 'film year' is definitely starting!

Tuomas Kantelinen

Film music composer Tuomas Kantelinen studied classical composing in his native Finland and continues to make music for both cinema and concert audiences.

He has scored orchestral film music for over 100 feature films, including Bobby Moresco's Lamborghini - The Man Behind the LegendStephen Fang's The Adventurers, Timo Vuorensola's Iron Sky - The Coming RaceSergei Bodrov's Genghis Khan biopic Mongol, Peter Flinth's Crusade saga Arn, the Knight Templar, Klaus Haro's awarded Mother of Mine, Renny Harlin's dark thriller Mindhunters and Greek mythology epic The Legend of Hercules.

On the classical music side Tuomas has composed three operas, several concertos and two ballets.

Tuomas has studios in Los Angeles, Italy and Finland.
